6 teenagers face charges after robbery leads to 4 Toronto raids, 2 guns seized: police

TORONTO — Six Toronto teenagers have been charged with various drug and firearm offences in connection with a robbery investigation after police seized two loaded firearms in four raids throughout the city on Monday.

Police responded to the Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area on Jan. 27 after a 16-year-old boy reported being assaulted and robbed by four unknown men.

Investigators then apprehended a 15-year-old Toronto boy and charged him with robbery and two counts of possession of a narcotic. He appeared in a Toronto court on Jan. 28.

As a result of the investigation, four search warrants were executed on Monday and an 18-year-old male, three boys and a girl were arrested after police located two loaded handguns and an undisclosed amount of money, drugs and stolen property.

Colton Sheenan, 18, of Toronto was charged with:

  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is prohibited
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Two counts of storing a firearm contrary to regulations
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Two counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Two counts of possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

Sheenan was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old Toronto boy has also been charged with robbery and possession of a narcotic.

Another 15-year-old Toronto boy has been charged with robbery and possession of cocaine, while a third 15-year-old Toronto boy faces a robbery charge.

Additionally, a 17-year-old Toronto girl has been charged with:

  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon knowing its possession is prohibited
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Two counts of storing a firearm contrary to regulations
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its serial number has been tampered

The three boys and the girl were scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on Monday and police said the boy arrested on Jan. 27 will be additionally charged with robbery.

The suspects under the age of 18 cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
