WINNIPEG — You can excuse Mathieu Perreault for missing practice on Monday.

The Winnipeg Jets forward was a little busy making the biggest assist of his life.

“We’re hopeful for another addition to the Jets family today,” Jets head coach Paul Maurice said. “(Mathieu) is coaching today.”

Perreault skipped the skate to be with his wife who is close to giving birth. Players usually take the day off when the team is home to help deliver their child.

It’s not known yet if Perreault is a proud papa to a new boy or girl.
