Police are searching for two men following a report of a mugging on the Bedford Highway late Friday night.

A 26-year-old man reported the robbery and assault to police just after 11 p.m., while waiting for a bus near Mill Cove, according to a police report from Staff Sgt. Greg Mason. The man said two men punched him and sprayed him with a sensory irritant before stealing his backpack, cell phone, and wallet. The suspects then ran away up Hammonds Plains Road.

Police searched for the suspects using a K9 unit but didn’t find them, said Staff Sgt. Mason. The suspects are both described as white, approximately 5’9 and each weighing roughly 175 lbs. Both men were wearing hoodies, one red and one black.
