EDMONTON – The Global Gazongas are once again taking part in Bust A Move, a six-hour workout extravaganza that raises money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation in support of breast cancer research at the Cross Cancer Institute.

The event itself – which consists of six different classes, from yoga to Zumba to kick boxing – takes place March 19, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Edmonton Expo Centre.

A record number of Global Edmonton women are going to sweat it out for a fantastic cause this year. Here is our team’s Bust A Move donation page if you’re able to offer support!

“You get a crazy work out, you have fun with your colleagues, and you help women in the biggest fight of their lives,” team leader Carole Anne Devaney said. “What’s not to like about this event?!”

Another way the Global Gazongas will be raising money is through our annual Wardrobe Sale on Saturday, Feb. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Global Edmonton studios (5325 Allard Way).

The Global team members cleaned out their closest for charity! More than $9,000 was raised thanks to the support of our community. All money raised from the Wardrobe Sale goes to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

“I am excited – and honestly a little terrified – to take part in Bust A Move,” first-time participant Jennifer Crosby said.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

“Even though on maternity leave I did a ton of walking, pushing a stroller and sleeping baby (we call those “snooze cruises”), my cardio level is at an all-time low! I used to love working out – I was actually one test away from becoming a certified aerobics instructor at one point.”

“So this is a great way to get back into working out – and MUCH more importantly, to support a great cause, crucial research, and the many, many women affected by this terrible disease,” Crosby added.

“It’s so encouraging to see the great scientific work being done in this fight and I’m honoured to be able to contribute in some small way.”

Crosby and Devaney and I (Emily!) were also serving as guest bartenders at Hart’s Table (14229 23 Ave. NW) on Saturday, March 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

More than $4,000 was raised for breast cancer research through tips and a silent auction.
