SWIFT CURRENT – A 47-year-old Calgary man is facing impaired driving charges following an investigation after the man flipped his semi truck east of Gull Lake Wednesday evening.
Police say the semi truck was hauling two trailers of drywall on Hwy #1 when it ran off the road and flipped onto its side, coming to a rest in the centre median of the highway.
Swift Current Rural RCMP responded to the accident around 6pm, which closed eastbound lanes for close to an hour. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the semi, was uninjured.
RCMP have charged the man with Impaired Driving and Driving With a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mgs% under the Criminal Code.
The man has been released from custody and will make his first appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on March 7.
