The new Harry Potter play will become a new Harry Potter book.
Scholastic Inc. announced Wednesday that a “script book” of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be published July 31.
The read is a based on the two-part stage collaboration of J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, and will hit store shelves just after the play premieres in London on July 30. Rowling’s Potter website will also release an edition.
Pottermore will have further updates on the Definitive Collector’s Edition as more information is released.
The first seven Potter books have sold more than 400 million copies worldwide, according to Scholastic, the series’ U.S. publisher.
Readers and moviegoers last saw Harry waving off his children at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, in the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child picks up after that moment and is staged in two parts, due to the “epic nature of the story.”
