Kelowna resort gets $12 million renovation

One of the Okanagan’s largest resorts is wrapping up the first phase of a $12 million expansion project.

Workers gutted the tower, one floor after the other, and remodeled 110 rooms.

Up to 57 workers were assigned to a single floor at one time.

As soon as the work was completed, the hotel’s housekeeping staff moved in and prepared the rooms for guests.

All the new rooms are equipped with Smart-Desks, which are designed to let guests connect and use all of their electronics.

“Today’s travelers are very tech savvy,” said general manager Daniel Bibby. “Families travel with so many different devices, like iPhones and laptops, that we’ve made sure our renovations are technology friendly.”

Work will resume in October, when most tourists have gone home.

At that time, another 150 rooms will be renovated, along with the lobby and other parts of the resort.
