Dartmouth traffic stop leads to charges for driver, man who interfered with arrest

One man is facing charges after police found drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Dartmouth and another man has been charged for trying to interfere during the arrest.

Halifax Regional Police conducted a traffic stop around 2 p.m. Wednesday on Highfield Park Drive and found crack cocaine, marijuana and hydromorphone pills along with cell phones and a sum of money in the vehicle.

Nathaniel Dominic White, 20, was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in hydromorphone, possession of cannabis, driving with a suspended licence and driving without insurance.

While officers were making the arrest, police say a 22-year-old man known to White approached and interfered. He was arrested for obstructing police and released.

White appeared in Dartmouth court Wednesday and the other man will appear in court at a later date.
