TORONTO –  It’s likely too late to be excited about the Leafs this season, but the team is hoping to generate some buzz for next year when it unveils a new logo next week.

The team revealed last month that it planned to overhaul its logo for the centennial 2016-17 season, and now the team plans an elaborate unveiling in a televised special Tuesday.

No hints were offered as to the new design, but the website sportslogos.net is saying the new logo will incorporate both old and new elements.

The old will reportedly date from the halcyon days of the 1960s, when the team won four Stanley Cups, including its last one in 1967.

The current Leafs logo has gone unchanged since 1970.
