WINNIPEG — A 15-year-old Winnipeg boy is behind bars after a stabbing inside the skywalk near the MTS Centre.
The 20-year-old victim was found by police at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night when he managed to get out of the skywalk and onto Portage Avenue. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was tracked down a short time later near Fort St. and Graham Ave. and arrested. Police say the victim didn’t know the suspect and at this point there doesn’t appear to be any motive for the alleged attack.
“This was an individual that was simply walking through the Skywalk when the assault occurred,” said Winnipeg Police constable Eric Hofley.
The downtown Skywalks are patrolled by police, private security guards and Downtown Biz watch ambassadors.
“We’ve been doing a lot of extra patrols working with police and security in the area to make sure the area is very visibly patrolled,” said the supervisor of safety and development with Downtown Biz Shawn Matthews.
Police say they have since been able to link the 15-year-old to another assault that happened on January 15 in the same area.
The victim in that case did not sustain serious injuries.
The 15-year-old remains in custody and faces numerous charges including aggravated assault.
Police say he has a previous criminal record.
