MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Special Investigations Unit says it has ended a probe into the death of a woman after she was pulled over by provincial police in a traffic stop in Brighton, Ont.
The police watchdog agency says the 65-year-old woman died of natural causes – a ruptured abdominal aneurysm – in hospital about three hours after the traffic stop on Nov. 19, 2015.
The SIU says the woman told the officer she was having trouble breathing and the officer immediately requested paramedics, who took her to hospital in Trenton, Ont.
The SIU says it ended its investigation because the woman’s death was in no way related to the action or inaction of the police officer.
