WINNIPEG — As Evander Kane and the Buffalo Sabres get ready to move in on Jets territory Sunday, Winnipeggers are getting ready to give Kane a not-so-warm welcome back to the city.
You may have already noticed a new hashtag popping up across social media platforms — #tracksuitnight is in full force calling Jets fans to take action.
Some tweeters are encouraging other fans to wear a track suit on Sunday when the Jets take on the Sabres at the MTS Centre at 2 p.m.
The hashtag is gaining momentum and poking fun at the plethora of controversy that has followed Kane.
Last February, Kane was benched during a road game against the Vancouver Canucks for allegedly breaking a dress code rule the day before.
Kane showed up to a meeting wearing a track suit instead of a formal suit.

Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien, reportedly took one of Kane’s now infamous track suits and tossed it in the team’s cold tub when Kane showed up for work in casual attire.
Within days, Kane was traded to the Buffalo Sabres.

The 24-year-old is no stranger to controversy, especially for his off-ice antics.
In December 2012, while the NHL was in lockout Kane posted a photo on Instagram of himself in Las Vegas pretending to use stacks of cash like a telephone.
Just a year later, Kane posted a photo with New York’s finest pretending to be arrested.
The Winnipeg Jets are currently in Dallas and not available to comment ahead of Sunday’s game.
Puck drop is at 2 p.m.
