KELOWNA — Kelowna RCMP are investigating a violent break-and-enter at a home in the 400 block of Christleton Avenue in Kelowna on Saturday.
Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey says Kelowna RCMP got a report about the incident around 2:30 p.m.
“Police are in the initial stages of this investigation, however they have determined that two (2) suspects gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door and confronted the residents, a 29-year-old Kelowna man and a 27-year-old Kelowna woman, who were both inside the home at the time,” says O’Donaghey.

O’Donaghey says the suspects, each producing weapons, got into the home and tried to prevent the residents from leaving the home.
“The 29-year-old man was assaulted by the suspects who were later spooked by the emergency sirens of what police believe was a passing ambulance,” says O’Donaghey.
“The suspects fled, prior to police arriving on scene, in a vehicle witnesses described as an SUV possibly brown in colour.”
Police blocked off a section of the street for about three hours while Kelowna RCMP investigated the crime.
“The 29-year-old victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital by Emergency Health Services for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was released from hospital later that day,” says O’Donaghey.
The first suspect is described as:
- Caucasian;
- short buzzed brown hair;
- approximately 5′ 8″ tall;
The second suspect is described as:
- Caucasian;
- short buzzed brown hair;
- approximately 5′ 10″ tall;
RCMP don’t believe there is any risk to the public.
“Police think the suspects were known to the residents of the home [and] that this incident was a targeted event,” says O’Donaghey.
