WINNIPEG — If you have a real tree leftover from the Christmas, the City of Winnipeg is opening up its 11 recycling depots on Sunday.
Residents can take their trees to 11 “Let’s Chip In” depots for free. The depots will remain open until January 20, 2016. All decorations, including tree bags, tinsel and stands must be taken off before the tree is dropped off.
And the city will not collect real trees that are left next to the curb or by recycling and garbage carts, in an effort to keep them out of landfills.
11,000 trees were recycled in Winnipeg last year.
