Charges expected after teen driver hits pedestrian in crosswalk

LOWER SACKVILLE, N.S. – Charges are anticipated following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Lower Sackville on Tuesday afternoon.

Halifax District RCMP and EHS responded to a collision between a small car and pedestrian at the intersection of Freer Lane and Cobequid Road shortly after 3 o’clock.

Police say the driver of the car attempted to turn left from Freer Lane onto Cobequid Road when it struck a pedestrian crossing on Cobequid Road.

RCMP say the pedestrian, a 28-year-old female, was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old female, was not injured. RCMP say they expect to lay charges once their investigation is complete.
