Secret Santa thanks neighbour for bringing joy to Pincourt

PINCOURT – When Debbie Seminick-Hurst‎ walked out her front door Thursday, surrounded by her extravagant holiday decorations, she really felt the Christmas spirit.

But looking around, something caught her eye – a small card tucked in among her lights – and when she reached out to read it, the words brought tears to her eyes.

“Merry Christmas to everyone in this home,” the card stated.

“You bring an immense amount of joy to the neighbourhood. Thank you for all your Christmas lights. Hope this money helps for your Hydro bill.”

Enclosed with the card was a $20 bill.

“We would like to know who you are so we can thank you personally,” she wrote on Facebook.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“You are very special people and we are glad you enjoy our lights. You truly light up our hearts.”

“If I can’t find you or you want to be anonymous, we, from our house, wish you a very Merry Christmas. Thank you so much.”

Seminick-Hurst and her husband Lenny Hurst have been decorating their home for 25 years.

This isn’t the first time someone had donated money to them – but Seminick-Hurst told Global News she doesn’t know if it’s the same person.

“Two women were walking by and they told my husband ‘you make our Christmas better,'” she said.

It seems Seminick-Hurst’s decorations don’t just bring a smile to anonymous Santa’s face; her other neighbours have also written in to share their thoughts.

“We have people tell us or asking our kids ‘why haven’t your parents put up their Christmas lights yet?'” she told Global News.

“There are people who stop and take pictures all the time.”

One of Seminick-Hurst’s neighbours has since written to say that they know the generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous.
