Police evacuated several homes in a Coquitlam neighbourhood this morning after a man allegedly threatened officers with explosives.
Mounties were called to a home in the 700-block of Breslay Street near Como Lake and Clarke Road, where reports say a man told police he had several explosives and was not afraid to use them.
Both the Coquitlam RCMP and the Emergency Response Team were called in to set up a perimeter and evacuate all the houses on the block. A tactical armored vehicle was brought in as additional support to protect the officers.
After a long negotiation with police, the man eventually surrendered and was arrested without any injuries.
