RCMP now believe a woman who was found dead in a remote rural area of Grande Prairie Friday was the victim of foul play.
Officers said Saturday 24-year-old Amber Dawn Diebert was reported missing on Dec. 10, one day before her body was found. She was last seen on Dec. 8.
Investigators believe Diebert was an acquaintance of another woman who disappeared Nov. 29.
RCMP said 30-year-old Jody Michelle Topilko was last seen shopping in Grande Prairie with a family member and has not returned home or made contact with anyone that police are aware of since. RCMP said Topilko could be in the Edmonton area.
RCMP did not suspect foul play in Topilko’s disappearance, but because of this latest discovery, investigators are anxious to find her and make sure she’s safe. They also hope she might be able to help find out what happened to Diebert.
It is not known if there is an actual link between the two investigations at this time, but police are not ruling out that possibility.
Topilko is described as white, 5’3”, 115 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes. RCMP said she might be linked to a 2015 black Chevrolet pickup truck with the licence plate L02 511.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5701.
