VERNON — In wake of the Vernon RCMP’s threats of shutting down medical marijuana dispensaries, the owners are calling on the police for a moratorium on any further action. Instead of waiting for the police to make their next step, the businesses are taking action.

Kovacs says the rotating strikes are designed to put public pressure on the decision makers. The strikes begin on Tuesday.
“Our intent is to reflect, somewhat, the uncertainty the RCMP have cast over the industry by issuing this warning.”
Vernon RCMP are not commenting on the dispensaries call for a moratorium. But in a news release issued last week, mounties say it is their duty to enforce Canada’s drug laws as they currently exist.
Police say no specific deadline has been set on when any enforcement action will be taken against the dispensaries.
