WINNIPEG — A group of gamers are using their passion for a good cause.

The Critical Hit is a group of podcasters and video game writers from Winnipeg.

They have started a fund called ‘A Critical Cause: Gamers for Mental Health’ that raises money for mental health programs and supports.

The fund launched on Saturday morning with a 24-hour game-a-thon.

“It’s really cool to see the response and see the comments that people make … and people tend to share their personal stories too so that’s sort of the best part when people are like oh yeah, my aunt or my uncle or my daughter is going through similar things so thank you for actually doing something to support them,” said one of the organizers Nolan Bicknell.

Last year the group held their first game-a-thon and raised $2,000 for the Children’s Hospital.
