Sandra Bullock is a mother for the second time.
The actress announced this morning that she’s adopted a baby girl, aged 3 1/2, who will also be a sister to big brother Louis, 5, whom Bullock adopted in 2010.
Bullock, 51, adopted Laila in Lousiana, where the little girl had previously been in foster care.
“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” said Bullock to People magazine. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time,” she added.

According to ET Canada, Bullock fostered Laila before adopting her, and feared the whole process would be jeopardized by her fame, telling People that the process felt like “witness protection.”
“The next day I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe.”

“Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances — and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job,” she said.
“My family is blended and diverse, nutty and loving and understanding. That’s a family.”
People has exclusive family photos taken by Bullock’s boyfriend, L.A. photographer Bryan Randall. You can see them there now or pick up the Friday issue.
