Winnipeg Police respond to online rap battle about winter driving

WINNIPEG — A rap battle has broken out on social media and it is very Canadian.

It’s between police detachments across the country about winter driving.

It all started with a tweet by the Kindersley RCMP last week.  The detachment changed the words to Ice Ice Baby to lyrics referencing icy roads.

Since then police in Calgary, Regina, Medicine Hat and Vancouver have gotten in on the online fun. You can now add Winnipeg Police to that list.

“Any way you can get people to think about road safety in a different way is important,” said Winnipeg Police Const. Eric Hofley.

The service tweeted out changed lyrics the 1987 Salt-N-Pepa song Push It on Tuesday afternoon.
