A man wearing an American flag was immediately caught by security on the North Lawn of the White House Thursday after jumping the fence.
The presidential residence was locked down as secret service conducted a security sweep of the area, according to multiple media reports.
President Barack Obama was is in Washington at the White House at the time of the intrusion to celebrate Thanksgiving, according to his public schedule.
The incident on Thanksgiving Day comes as the U.S. and other western countries are on heightened alert following the Paris terror attacks on Nov.13 that killed 130 people and injured hundreds more. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
