TORONTO – A male pedestrian has died of his injuries after being hit by a dump truck in Brampton Wednesday morning.
The collision happened around 6:30 a.m. ET. near the intersection of Steeles Avenue East and Kennedy Road South.
An Ornge air ambulance was initially dispatched to the scene but was later cancelled.
The 21-year-old victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition but later succumb to his injuries.
Peel Regional Police said the dump truck failed to remain at the scene and the search is on for the driver.
“Witnesses are telling us that a dump truck struck the male and then proceeded eastbound on Steeles Avenue,” said Const. Rachel Gibbs.
In September, a 49-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by two tires that flew off of a dump truck in Mississauga.
Police are urging anyone with information on the collision in Brampton to come forward.
