Pedestrian injured by an alleged impaired driver in Lasalle

LASALLE – A 35-year-old man is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was struck by an alleged drunk driver Saturday night.

The collision happened at 11:15 when the pedestrian tried to cross Newman Boulevard at the corner of Thierry Street.

The 65-year-old motorist was heading westbound on Newman when the pedestrian was struck. He was thrown into the air and landed on the street.

The victim was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

The driver was arrested and is facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Collision experts were at the scene last night gathering evidence.
