‘Attacks against the west’ found written in washroom stall at Sheridan College

TORONTO – Police have launched an investigation after graffiti referencing attacks against the west was discovered in a washroom stall at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ont. this week.

Halton Regional Police said the discovery was made by a cleaner just after midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the college’s SCAET building at the Trafalgar campus.

The graffiti, which was written in marker, said “there will be more attacks against the west.”

Police said they are not treating the incident as a hate crime as it did not make mention of “any threat to anyone or anyplace.”

A statement issued by Sheridan College on Thursday said police are pursuing it as a case of mischief and damage to property.

“Given that there has been no threat identified against Sheridan, all classes and business operations are proceeding as usual,” said the school.

Police said they are working with the college to identify the author of the writing.
