“I know you’re taking a financial hit, I know that’s painful, and if there’s anything we can do for your wife on that side, if there’s anything, please let us know. I mean, is there a personal service contract we can do, is there something we can do to help?” McVicar is heard saying.

Liberal party responds

The Liberals say the full audio recording tells a different story.

The Liberals said McVicars gave the tape over to the Nova Scotia RCMP along with the anonymous letter that came with it.

RCMP confirm they received a complaint Thursday, but won’t speak to any details of that complaint.

“We can confirm that the RCMP has received a complaint from the premier’s office. An investigation has been initiated. I cannot speak to the contents of the letter or recording as that forms part of the investigation.”

The recording had been anonymously dropped off at the legislature and released by the Liberal Party, at the same time Liberal House Leader Michel Samson tabled a motion in the legislature calling on Younger to release the full tape.
