Manslaughter charges laid against two Bathurst police officers in Michel Vienneau shooting

BATHURST, NB – Two Bathurst City Police officers have been charged with manslaughter in the death of Michel Vienneau.

Vinneau was shot and killed on Jan. 12 of this year near the VIA Rail train station in Bathurst.

RCMP in Nova Scotia conducted the investigation into the shooting.

The findings of the review led to Const. Patrick Bulger, 38, and Const. Mathieu Boudreau, 26, to be charged with manslaughter, assault with a weapon and unlawfully pointing a weapon.

In a release from Bathurst Police on Thursday, the force said they received news that the two officers would be charged on Wednesday.

“Both officers were suspended as per departmental policy, pending the outcome of the Court Proceedings,” the release read.

Both officers are scheduled to appear in Bathurst Provincial Court on Jan. 4, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.
