Winnipeg police looking for poppy thief

WINNIPEG — Police are looking to track down a man they say stole a poppy box from Extra Foods at 740 St. Anne’s Road on Nov. 4.

Police say the suspect entered the store and immediately went to a customer counter. Staff members asked the man if he needed any help and he said that he did not.

He then took the poppy donation box, hid it under his jacket and ran from the store. Staff tried to follow the suspect but was unable to catch him.

The suspect is described as 20-30 years, 5’8″ in height, medium build, short light brown hair, wearing a black winter coat, black pants and a Winnipeg Jets scarf.

Police are asking anyone with information or knowledge about the suspect’s identity to contact detectives at 204-986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
