Amanda Blackburn, 28, died Wednesday after she was shot during a home invasion which police say was a crime of opportunity and not  premeditated.

Blackburn’s husband, Pastor Davey Blackburn, had come home from the gym on Tuesday morning to find his wife unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a WTHR report.

The Blackburn’s 1-year-old, who was at home during the invasion, was left unharmed in a crib, according to NBC News.

Police are now combing through security camera footage from neighbouring homes and are looking at some suspicious activity found on one so far.

Police said a nearby house had been broken into earlier with some valuables taken.

“We have had some home break-ins, but nothing as bad as this. I’ve had a break-in in my car five years ago and that is one of the reason you see all these cameras here,” neighbour Kurt Baker said.

Another neighbour said “At least the investigators were able to discern the car and some of the details. Yes, and we did see some people that looked a little suspicious.”

A friend of the family told WTHR News that the Blackburns had moved to Indianapolis with from the Carolinas to start the Resonate Church in 2012.

Davey Blackburn was a prominent baseball player at Southern Wesleyan University and gave up his playing career to start the Resonate Church.
