3 injured in wrong-way crash on Gardiner Expressway

TORONTO – Three people are in hospital after a car travelling the wrong way on the Gardiner Expressway crashed head-on into another vehicle.

Police say the six-car pileup occurred around 10:30 Saturday night between Kipling and Islington avenues when a Chrysler 300 driving east in the Gardiner’s westbound lanes crashed into a Ford Focus containing two passengers.

Police say one car flipped onto its roof.

The occupants of the Focus were trapped in the vehicle and were later transported to hospital. They both sustained minor injuries.

The westbound express lanes were closed until about 5 a.m. Sunday.

Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
