WATCH: Scott Brison named President of Treasury Board for new Liberal government

HALIFAX – Nova Scotia MP Scott Brison has been named the new President of the Treasury Board on Wednesday at the swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his new cabinet ministers.

Brison is the MP representing the Kings-Hants riging in the province of Nova Scotia, and has been an MP since 1997.

Brison previously represented the Conservative party in the riding of King-Hants, but crossed the floor and ran as a Liberal candidate in the 2000 election.

Today, Brison was sworn in along with 29 other ministers who will make up Trudeau’s cabinet. He is one of four ministers from Atlantic Canada, including Dominic LeBlanc, leader of the Government in the House of Commons; Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement; and Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

The cabinet is comprised of 15 women and 15 men.

Trudeau is Canada’s 23rd prime minister.
