SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. – A central Alberta man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for dragging a Mountie about 100 metres with a pickup truck during a traffic stop east of Edmonton.
Christopher Ferguson, a 24-year-old Three Hills resident, was also handed a 15-month driving ban last week after pleading guilty in June to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily
harm and obstructing a peace officer.

Police said there was a young child in the pickup when the dragging happened in May 2014 in Sherwood Park.
The officer had non-life-threatening injuries and required surgery to recover.
Police said it was information provided by the public that led officers to a rural acreage in the Three Hills area, where Ferguson was arrested.
The child was uninjured and wasn’t with Ferguson at the time of his arrest.
