THOROLD, Ont. – Niagara Regional Police say they’ve arrested and charged a man in the death of his grandchild.
Police say they responded to a report of a 13-month-old in medical distress at a home in Thorold, Ont., on July 25.

They say the child was taken to hospital but died the following day.
Police say 37-year-old Brian Matthews, the child’s grandfather, has been charged with manslaughter.
He was set to appear in court in St. Catharines on Monday.
