Police on Vancouver Island are investigating a suspicious fire involving three boats.
The pleasure boats were moored together and anchored offshore from the Cowichan Bay Marina when someone spotted the flames just after 7 p.m. on Halloween.
Two of the boats were engulfed by fire and sank a short time later. A third separated and was set adrift, but was later towed back to shore with only minor damage.
RCMP say the cause is unknown, and they are treating the fire as suspicious.
The vessels were all owned by the same person, but they hadn’t been occupied for some time.
It’s not yet known if the sunken boats will be raised or not.
