René Arseneault wins Liberals a seat in Madawaska-Restigouche
Cabinet Minister Bernard Valcourt has lost his seat in the riding after only one term, with Liberal candidate Rene Arsenault taking the seat.
Former cabinet minister Bernard Valcourt was hoping to hold onto his Conservative seat in Madawaska-Restigoughe, but early polls showed residents were leaning toward the Liberals.
Valcourt is the minister of aboriginal affairs and won his seat in the 2011 election, defeating Liberal Jean-Claude D’Amours, who had served three consecutive terms.
NDP Rosaire L’Italien and Green Party candidate Francoise Aubin were also running for this seat.
