REGINA – A Grade eight class at Mother Teresa Middle School received a very special surprise Friday morning. West Jet is providing airfare for the class to fly to Ottawa for We Day.

“I was quite shocked, because I asked my Grandma about it since she knew, but she told me she didn’t know nothing,” said Ashanti Tanner.

The class is being recognized for taking part in several charity based projects that includes a freshly launched program where they are selling jars of crabapple jelly in support of the Regina Transition House.

The kids were chosen to go to the Ottawa We Day event due to representing the organizations spirit of giving back to the community.

“It means making a difference. Even if it’s just a small group of kids,” said Ashantay McKenzie-Fissens. “That’s usually how it starts is someone having an idea and other people contributing. It really means a lot to someone in the world, and that’s what I really love about it.”
