No charges to be laid after fatal cyclist/truck collision

HALIFAX – Halifax Regional Police say no charges will be laid in relation to a collision between a cyclist and a propane truck that happened on Wednesday of last week.

The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

In a release sent out Tuesday, police say the female cyclist, 49-year-old Loresa Makonin of Halifax, collided with a propane that was making a lawful right-hand turn from Herring Cove Road onto Purcells Cove Road. The cyclist died as a result of her injuries.

The investigation into the collision concluded that the driver of the truck didn’t violate the motor vehicle act and no charges will be laid.
