TORONTO – Video giant YouTube is making it easier to improve your videos, no fancy editing software required.

On Wednesday the company announced a new feature that allows users to edit their videos when uploading to the site.

In a blog post on the company website, YouTube says that “sometimes videos suffer from symptoms like ‘shaky-camera-itis’ or ‘augmented-darkness-levels’ that keep viewers from seeing just how awesome your video really is.”

With the new feature, when uploading a video YouTube will now detect if the video is shaky or too dark.

With a simple click of the mouse, users can prompt YouTube to fix the video automatically. Users will then be given a side-by-side preview of the two versions of the video, allowing uploaders to decide if they want to keep their old video or save the edited version.

Last year, YouTube released a built-in video editor that helped users touch up video clips and make basic fixes. The company says the one-click editing feature will roll out over the next few days, with more simple video fixes planned in the future.
