An Ohio father may have set the bar for blended families with a simple gesture: right before he was about to walk his daughter down the aisle this past weekend, Todd Bachman invited her stepfather to join them.
“He came up to me and reached out and grabbed my hand and he said, ‘Hey, you’ve worked for this as hard as I have. You deserve this as much as I do,'” the bride’s stepfather, Todd Cendrosky, told NBC affiliate WKYC.
Cendrosky’s knees went weak and he couldn’t hold back his emotion.
“That was the most important thing in my life,” he said.
Even the photographer started crying. Luckily, she was able to capture the special moment, which has since been shared roughly 500,000 times on Facebook.
“Families are what we make them,” she wrote in a post that’s been liked more than a million times.
“Make it about your kids and not your ego.”
“There’s a lot of families out there that are split,” said Cendrosky.
The family admits things haven’t always been “peaches and cream” over the last 14 years. Still, Bachman felt it was necessary to thank his paternal counterpart for all that he’s done.
“To thank him for all the years wouldn’t justify.”
