YARMOUTH, NS – Police in Yarmouth are searching the waters of Gavel Lake for a man who went overboard this morning.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a construction crew working on a bridge at Gavel Lake called RCMP after seeing an adult male boater fall out of his small motorboat and into the water.
Early investigation determined the 46-year-old boater became distressed after falling into the water and was struggling to remain on the surface. A nearby man launched his rowboat and headed to help the man, but lost sight of him, as did the construction crew.
RCMP is currently on-scene searching the water and shores, along with the Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department and local EHS.
The underwater recovery team has also been brought in to help search for the man.
