Video of a family’s yacht engulfed in flames on Saturday was caught on cell phone camera by a Good Samaritan who helped save the family of four.

Leslie Prince Jr., one of the three adults on the yacht, said the incident began 15 minutes into the trip when the vehicle’s engine had smoke coming from it.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Someone else rolled up and told us that our boat was on fire, that it was actually in flames,” he said. “And so they were pretty dramatic about it. They were like ‘It’s on fire, you need to get off.’”

The boy’s mother sent a message to the men who helped save not only her life but her son’s as well.

“I don’t know what I would have done. If he would have gotten caught in the fire,” she told CBS. “And to those people who saved our lives, I want to say thank you.”
