More charges laid in Saskatoon shooting death

SASKATOON – A 14-year-old boy charged with manslaughter in a Saskatoon shooting death is facing more charges. A 15-year-old boy was found dead at a home in the 300-block of Avenue Q South early in the evening on Sept. 7, 2015.

It was the city’s sixth homicide this year.

The 14-year-old was originally charged on Sept. 11 with numerous firearms-related offences following an investigation by police, which involved the Crown prosecutor.

On Sept. 14, he was charged with manslaughter along with criminal negligence causing death.

Police have now charged him with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession of a firearm obtained in the commission of an offence.

Investigators said they linked the gun used in the shooting death to one reported stolen from a vehicle in northwest Saskatoon on Sept. 5.

The teen, who is now facing 15 Criminal Code charges, made an appearance Wednesday morning in Saskatoon provincial court.
