OSOYOOS — The RCMP aren’t saying why a former Osoyoos officer is having his disciplinary hearing delayed.

Cst. Amit Goyal has been suspended with pay since June 2013.

He was scheduled to attend a code of conduct hearing on July 28, but it was postponed until August 31.

A media spokesperson for the RCMP’s “E” division says this week’s hearing has been adjourned again but wouldn’t give reason why. No new date has been set.

“It is heartbreaking to know that [Goyal]’s getting away with it instead of having justice done,” says Stephen Condon, a former Osoyoos resident who alleges he was harassed by the suspended police officer on multiple occasions.
“[The police] are trying to play games. I want to move on with this and I can’t move on because they just keep on playing games. They don’t give any explanation on why they’re doing it.”

Condon launched a lawsuit against Goyal, RCMP “E” Division, the B.C. government and Town of Osoyoos on June 2.

He claims Goyal framed him for stealing and burning two vehicles in 2012, and as a result, he was falsely arrested. The allegations have not been proven in court.

He says he recently dropped the Town of Osoyoos from the civil claim.
