LOWER TRURO, NS – The search of a Lower Truro property for clues in the murder of Taylor Samson has ended.
Halifax Regional Police said investigators and volunteers with numerous search and rescue groups from around Nova Scotia concluded their search shortly after 2 o’clock Monday afternoon.
Police began searching a rural farm property on August 25. Two days into their search, several items of potential interest were located on the property.
The items were seized for forensic analysis and investigators said they believed the items may be connected to the homicide. Halifax Regional Police not say what the items are, or how they are connected to the case, in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
The intense search lasted nearly a week and used a lot of resources. A drone was deployed to help police survey the large property, several argos were also brought in to help searchers scour different types of terrain.
The underwater recovery unit was also called in to help. Police divers spent last Friday searching four separate bodies of water on the property, but failed to find any more evidence in the case.
Samson, 22, was last seen in the 6000-block of South Street in Halifax on Saturday, Aug. 15.
Within 5 days of his disapearance, Halifax Police arrested and charged William Sandeson with first-degree murder in Samson’s death. Both men were students at Dalhousie University.
Property records indicate the land police were searching in Lower Truro belongs to the family of William Sandeson.
Court documents obtained by Global News indicate police believe Samson may have been killed over a drug deal.
So far, the remains of Taylor Samson have not yet been recovered. Anyone who may have any information about the homicide is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
