2 facing charges after police find sawed-off shotgun in vehicle

SASKATOON – A man and woman have been arrested in Saskatoon after a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun was found in a vehicle Saturday morning. Saskatoon police say they received a tip that a couple in a purple truck were in possession of an illegal firearm.

Just before 8 a.m., officers responded to the 600-block of Avenue O North and found a vehicle matching the description leaving the area. The truck was eventually stopped in the 1600-block of 33rd Street West.

Both occupants were arrested and the firearm was seized.

The 20-year-old man is now facing numerous firearm-related charges. The 22-year-old woman was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants and was also in possession of a small amount of illegal narcotics.

Police say additional charges may be laid as the investigation is ongoing.
