WINNIPEG — The death of an inmate at the medium security unit at Stony Mountain Institution forced the jail into lockdown Monday.

Correctional Service Canada says 33-year-old Clayton Thomas Korski was found unresponsive in a common area of the jail on Monday. Staff members started performing CPR, and emergency responders were called, but Korski could not be resuscitated.

The inmate was serving an indeterminate sentence for First Degree Murder since July 5, 2007.

Visits have been suspended until search has been completed.

Correctional Service Canada is reviewing the circumstances. The cause of death has not been released.
