WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Goldeyes’ outfielder Reggie Abercrombie has been rewarded for helping to keep his team relevant in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball’s wild card race.
The 35-year-old has been named the league’s player of the week marking the first time this year a member of the Goldeyes has won the award. Abercrombie batted .484 in seven games last week plus had two home runs, eight RBI and five runs. He also had five multi-hit games.
The Goldeyes continue their ten-game interleague road trip tonight against the Can-Am’s Quebec Capitales. Winnipeg trails the wild card leading Laredo Lemurs by six games with 14 left to play.
