Easter Seal Drop Zone raises nearly $85,000

REGINA – Rappelling down a 22-storey building is not for the faint of heart, but more than 60 people did just that as part of the Easter Seal Drop Zone on Sunday.

“Oh my goodness it was exhilarating!” said Tiawna Montagne, following her drop. “It’s very exciting and for a great cause. So I had a great time! It’s really windy up there!”

Participants are asked to raise at least $1,500 in order to take part.

“It costs around $1,500 a week to send a kid to camp,” said Saskatchewan Abilities Council Regional Director, Corey Hadden.

This year the Drop Zone raised $84,513.81, which is enough money to provide the camp experience for about 56 kids with disabilities.

Camp Easter Seal, located on Manitou Beach, is the only camp in the province that is fully accessible for kids of all abilities.
