Summary: This riding has been a Conservative stronghold since the late 90s. But the long-time incumbent is not re-offering, and that, combined with boundary changes, may open the door to the NDP in this riding. The party has finished second here in the past three elections.
Boundaries: This riding has been expanded to include what used to be the southern half of Halifax West. Many suburban Halifax communities, sunch as Brookside, Prospect Bay, and Hubley, are now grouped with what is otherwise a largely rural riding.

Last Election: Conservative incumbent Gerald Keddy defeated repeat-NDP candidate Gordon Earle by 2,915 votes. Under the current boundaries, Keddy’s win would have been by 2,770 votes.
History: Keddy has held this seat for the Conservatives and PC party since 1997. The Liberals last won here in 1993.
Demographics: 19.5 per cent of people were seniors as of the 2011 census, the third highest figure in Atlantic Canada.
